If you didn’t get your Coachella tickets this year you missed one helluva show. One of the biggest highlights of Coachella 2011 was Arcade Fire’s glow in the dark ball drop. 2011 Coachella tickets are go! That’s right, and with the recent announcement of the 2011 Coachella lineup, it looks like being one of the best Coachellas of recent years! Among the headliners at this year’s festival are Arcade Fire, Kanye West and Kings of Leon. Any one of these three is worth the price of a Coachella ticket alone, but when you add PJ Harvey, the Chemical Brothers and rapper Nas, you know that the 2011 Coachella lineup is a winner. The music and arts festival in Indio, California has been earning a reputation as the one festival to be at in recent years, with a dazzling array of the hippest acts, and this year is one of the best ever.

The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, to give Coachella its full name, is now in its 12th year, and growing in recognition as the first major rock festival on the annual calendar and a barometer for what is to follow once summer gets underway. The 2011 Coachella schedule will play from April 15 to 17, always a perfect time in Southern California. Expect to see other hip bands like Animal Collective, the Strokes, the Black Keys and the New Pornographers, all giving their all for what is usually a celebrity crowd laced with hipsters, hippies, general cool folks and tons of music industry insiders.

Make sure you buy those 2011 Coachella tickets ASAP, as every cool person worth their salt will be rushing to buy tickets to Coachella this week. It’s the one festival on everybody’s list, the festival with both glamor and talent. Go for it!

The Who at Coachella?

Apparently the organizers of Coachella were trying to negotiate a date for the rock legends to perform at the 2010 Coachella Festival. Having appeared at the 2010 Super Bowl, all bets were headed toward The Who headlining at least one music festival this summer.

Coachella head honchos attempted to get Bowie to play last year and the year before- he refused and they got Prince and Paul McCartney instead. With recruits like that, The Who is sure to take the bait this year right? Unfortunately no, Pete Townshend released a statement in which he felt the need to continue writing new material.

So much for that, at least the 2010 Coachella lineup is one of the best music festival lineups this year!

There’s nothing like the festival atmosphere- the raw beauty of an enthusiastic sea of people gathering for a single effort- to see the most innovative bands live on a single patch of land. Now it’s hard to believe that in just a few months your back will be crisping under the Indio California sun but Coachella is fast approaching, and although that long stretch of holiday-free, winter misery is here, now is the time to plan. Coachella tickets are always in high demand, and professional festival-goers, like me, always snatch them up as soon as they go on sale. Why? Because planning is key and ticket prices always rise the closer you get to the event.

Now I’ve been to my share of festivals (a few Phish festivals, Bonnaroo, Langerado and Bisco) and I have to say, Coachella is really in a class of it’s own. Each year, Coachella gathers the most popular independent, electronic, rock and alternative bands around today. Past headliners include reunions by Rage Against the Machine and the Pixies along with sought out acts like LCD Soundsystem, The Beastie Boys and Prince.
