Apparently the organizers of Coachella were trying to negotiate a date for the rock legends to perform at the 2010 Coachella Festival. Having appeared at the 2010 Super Bowl, all bets were headed toward The Who headlining at least one music festival this summer.

Coachella head honchos attempted to get Bowie to play last year and the year before- he refused and they got Prince and Paul McCartney instead. With recruits like that, The Who is sure to take the bait this year right? Unfortunately no, Pete Townshend released a statement in which he felt the need to continue writing new material.

So much for that, at least the 2010 Coachella lineup is one of the best music festival lineups this year!

There’s nothing like the festival atmosphere- the raw beauty of an enthusiastic sea of people gathering for a single effort- to see the most innovative bands live on a single patch of land. Now it’s hard to believe that in just a few months your back will be crisping under the Indio California sun but Coachella is fast approaching, and although that long stretch of holiday-free, winter misery is here, now is the time to plan. Coachella tickets are always in high demand, and professional festival-goers, like me, always snatch them up as soon as they go on sale. Why? Because planning is key and ticket prices always rise the closer you get to the event.


Now I’ve been to my share of festivals (a few Phish festivals, Bonnaroo, Langerado and Bisco) and I have to say, Coachella is really in a class of it’s own. Each year, Coachella gathers the most popular independent, electronic, rock and alternative bands around today. Past headliners include reunions by Rage Against the Machine and the Pixies along with sought out acts like LCD Soundsystem, The Beastie Boys and Prince.
